Study on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Ti/Mg Alloy Clad Plate Produced by Explosive Welding

In this paper, the microstructure and properties of a Ti/Mg alloy clad plate manufactured by explosive welding were studied. The bonding interface was inspected ultrasonic examination (US). composition characterized OM SEM. Properties tensile test, shearing microhardness test electrochemical corrosion. results showed that made up straight areas wavy areas. areas, element diffusion occurred across interface. Additionally, in melting zone Mg layer near to Lots light particles embedded on zone. Tensile comparable with Ti sheet ultimate strength demonstrated an 18% increase. about 68–87 MPa. higher than original sheets from 300 ?m away. At over ?m, decreased approached sheets. Compared area, hardness area close increased 12%. Corrosion corrosion potential (Ecorr) absolute value 24%, current density (icorr) 4 orders magnitude lower, compared sheet. It clear resistance Cladding would improve industrial applications magnesium materials.
